TOPIC: To Reno or not to Reno

To Reno or not to Reno 1 year, 2 months ago #19203

Have a basic house unit in puchong amanputra.

Wanted to sell but due to exterior of the house not good condition due to shoddy work from contractor i.e. uneven flooring front n back porch, slight leakage interior, need some painting and some minor touching up here n ther...

thot of geting an contractor to fix the defect but was advice against doing it... reason being its better to giv discount on the selling price n let the new owner do it and they can do it at their own preference and design they want....

but if i were to do it, i might fetch a better price but will it be worth it to spend that amount cos i estimate it will cost anywer between RM10k to RM20k to do the reno cos i will not know what is the last selling price later or will it be better to just offer a discount and let the employer do the reno on his own....

Any advice guys

Hi Peter,

In my opinion, there are advantage and disadvantage in your situation. If you will renovate/repair your unit into a somewhat very good conditioned unit, the advantage is that you can offer it on the selling price that you wanted. Plus factor is that your unit is in very good state which is good to market by anybody. Whereas, without doing anything on your unit or in a state of \"As is, where is\", expect Buyer's that will ask an incredible amount of discounts stating that it will incur them a lot of money to renovate/repair the unit.

Just my 2 cents!

Cheers!
