Agents of change are happy with the government's commitment to the green cause, but building industry stakeholders are quite perplexed as to what they are entitled to and how to go about applying for the Green Building Index(GBI) incentives.

Generally, the recently announce 2010 Budget initiatives to promote the use of green technology and incentives to encourage construction for building using green technology to comply with the GBI, as well as tax perks for companies that generate energy from renewable sources and embrace conversation activities, were met with a flurry of excitement.

early this week, GBI rating tool administrator Greenbuildingindex Sdn Bhd organized a talk on incentives and benefits of "Going GBI Green" for industry players.

The session, led by Dr Tan Loke Mun of Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia and supported by loo Ming Chee from Institute Surveyors Malaysia and Lalchand Gulbrai of Pusat Tenaga Malaysia (PTM), aimed to create a better understanding of the prerequisites and procedures in claiming incentives for undertaking GBI certification...
