Crime is on the rise going by the country's crime statistics. There were 211645 reported crime cases last year, 209559 in 2007 and 196,780 cases in 2006.
On the real estate front, there were 173,828 cases that involved property crime last year compared to 174,401 in 2007 and 165,372 in 2006.
these are the kind of figures that give anyone, particularly homeowners, nightmares as burglars have gotten violent in recent years.
Not content to merely loot and plunder the contents of homes, criminals armed with parang and other weapons have been known to rape, maim and even murder the occupants as well...
