Tapah

Tapah is the administrative town of the district Batang Padang, Perak, Malaysia. The name "Tapah" is said to be originated from the name of a fresh water fish, "Ikan Tapah". The scientific name of the fish is Wallago attu. The locals said that the name has been taken from the Malay-Perak dialect word which means "no worry". The population of Tapah is about 80,000.

The Batang Padang River flows through this town, which is located on the main road between Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh. Major neighbouring towns are Kampar and Bidor. There is an entrance to the North-South Expressway at Tapah. This town is also widely considered as the main entry point into the old Cameron Highlands route, which is a winding and narrow road uphill. 
 
The nearest train station is Tapah Road. The Lata Kinjang waterfall is about 18 km from Tapah on the road to Chenderiang. It is an impressive series of cascades down a 100 m drop. The falls can be seen from the North-South Expressway.
 
The impressive multi-tiered waterfalls that grace the Batang Padang district, Lata Kinjang boasts six district and separate 'steps' or levels, with small pools at the base of each tier that allows for ice-cool dips and dives.
 
It plummets above 850 metres from the top of the highest tier to the pool of the lowermost level is tall enough to be seen from far away, especially during the wet season or after extended stretches of rainy days.
 
Observant travelers along the North-South Highway will notice the Lata Kinjang falls from a good distance away.
Apart from the luxuriant and rich abundance of tropical flora in the surrounding areas, Lata Kinjang ia also noted for a particularly fruitful durian orchard nearby.
 
When the season is right, connoisseurs of this "King Of Fruits" should not miss the chance to experience the fruits from this well-known orchard, whose reputation for high quality has travelled well beyond its immediate vicinities.
 
ituated at mere 13km from Tapah town, the Kuala Woh Recreational Forest Park is easily accessible by road.  It is a place not to be missed by people who enjoy the pleasures afforded by the flora and fauna of tropical forests.
 
The park offers interesting walks and treks, with the added excitement of being able to see the Rajah Brooke butterflies in their natural habitat.  The Kuala Woh Recreational Forest also incorporates a hot-water natural spa at Lubok Merbau.
 
Another attraction in the area is the 30-metre long suspended bridge hung across the Batang Padang river, providing an opportunity to observe both the river and its surrounding scenery from this high vantage point.
