At what resolution will the camera be useful enough for face identification and at what range?
I've seen many security system where you could not even see the face of the people walking along the coverage areas, especially for commercial purpose where the camera could be placed quite high up to scout a larger area.
When crime does occur, because the camera could not capture the face of the culprit or even details of the goods stolen, there were no way file charges against that individual.
So if you could share some tips on the type of system and the specs, it would be great help.
Thanks
Hi, I would say the min res you require would be 480tvl to 520tvl and also depends on what ccd chip it’s using. Not all CCD chips are equal, even with the same specifications. Quality varies by individual manufacturer.
Common good ones are using sony & panasonic chip. Some of the good quality cameras are capable to even see the pimples on your face. Not to forget even the monitor plays an important role as well.
The range of the camera depends on the lens: - 1/4/\", 1/3\", 1/2\" etc...
The most widely use cameras are 420tvl with 1/3\" 3.6mm lens.
Finally I would say it depends on the individual’s budget on purchasing a good quality camera & system. A good quality camera can cost you from as low as RM 480 and up to RM 2-3K.
Cheers!
