TOPIC: Last Rental

Last Rental 1 year, 6 months ago #18834

Dear members,

Suppose I provide 2 months notice as stipulated in the tenancy agreement but my notice of termination thus expiration is slightly earlier than the rental due date. Can I prorate the last rental since I will not be staying until the next rental due date?

The agent who got me this apartment says \"can\" but the landlord says \"cannot\", meanwhile the contract is silent on this part. I would be grateful to any suggestions.

Regards,
Jeeva

If your contract is silent, then, you should break out of the silence by action, at least, you can if you wish.

No tricks, but sometimes, action speak louder than words.

The was another forumer who writes in just a few days ago.

In that scenario, the landlord was according to his description, not willing to negotiate and the situation which he described was, I am made to understand, intolerable.

Hence, he can choose to pack and maybe, hand over the keys to a neighbour.

Are your situation almost the same? Well, if so, there goes this point of view.

In the event, you find this too coumbersome, try, letting your landlord some space to check with you whether your request is reasonable. I am sure, most landlords are not a tyranny, at least, that was not what
you expect then to be when you first rented from the landlord.
